EPIRB's (Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon) are a type of portable emergency equipment that transmits a distress signal to search and rescue (SAR) organizations. The purpose of these beacons is to aid SAR teams in tracking and locating ships or individuals in jeopardy as rapidly as possible. Truelight can advise on which type would be right for your vessel and can safely install it as per manufacturers guidelines.
Should there be, for any reason, an inadvertent activation or false alarm, it must be reported to the nearest search and rescue authorities. The information that should be reported includes:
- The EPIRB 15-digit Unique Identifier Number (UIN)
- Time and date
- Duration and cause of activation
- Location of beacon at the time of activation
If you have any enquiries relating to EPIRBs, please call us on (087) 280 7028 or e-mail us at info@truelightmarine.ie. |
